Frederick J. Ferrer, M.S. has worked with children, families and non-profit staffs for over 27 years. He recently founded his own consulting practice: Manzanita Solutions. He consults and trains nationally on child development, non-profit management, family support, parent leadership and child, family, community inter-relations.

Utilizing his vast wealth of experience and knowledge in child development and non-profits, Ferrer provides diagnostics to articulate an agency’s challenges and then offers targeted training and expertise to each client. The client is able to take advantage of Ferrer’s expertise to solve challenges more effectively and efficiently thus saving time and money.

Mr. Ferrer, former executive director of Estrella Family Services, is a past chair and commissioner on the FIRST 5 Commission of Santa Clara County. He is a Board member of the Rocketship One Charter Elementary School. He is on the Board of Santa Clara University’s Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education and a member of the Department of Education’s Autism Advisory Board. He is a former Board member of the American Leadership Forum Silicon Valley (ALF-SV) and a current ALF Senior Fellow (Class XI). He is past co-chair and a current member of the Santa Clara Early Childhood Local Planning Council. He is a community advisor to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Junior League of San Jose. He sits on the governing committee of Santa Clara County’s Partnership for School Readiness.

Ferrer has received numerous awards among them, the John Gardner Leadership Award from ALF-SV and the Kindred Spirit Award from the Children’s Discovery Museum. He has completed Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management at Harvard.

Ferrer is adjunct faculty at De Anza College and Santa Clara University’s Graduate School of Education. He holds a B.S. degree from Santa Clara University and a M.S. degree from San Jose State University.
